Woodwinds Assignments

Intermediate

E.E. assignment for all: "March Militaire," #106. Parts A, B, and C in
"Kum Ba Yah."
Theme from "Surprise Symphony," #150. Rhythm studies, p. 42, lines 13,
17, and 21. Clap and Tap these.


For new members who just moved up from beginner: Practice the concert
B-flat scale (top of page 40 or use your Allstate scale sheet). Everyone else should practice all of the middle school Allstate scales
and chromatic scales at quarter note =72.

Advanced

Practice the 9/10 Allstate scales and chromatic scale at quarter note =96. "Badinage," and "Be Thou my Vision." Work the sections like we did in our sectional giving great attention to
dynamics and articulation

Brass Assignment

Intermediate

  • work on Bb and Ab scales (see www.gmea.org or look in Hilliard book)
  • make sure they are memorized for class- work on rhythm p.84 #6-10 (Hilliard book)
  • be sure to write in counts in pencil, clap, buzz, play- practice #86-109 (EE bk. 1)
  • pass-off on #106 9-17-10

  • review and memorize concert Bb, Ab, Eb, and F scales in the pattern

The Basics of Music through Recorder

This is a year-long class for 3rd grade and up to learn musical basics (rhythm, note recognition, tone production, etc.) through recorder performance and music games. No prior musical experience is required. The group will perform two concerts plus several performance opportunities in the community are available.

Taught Fridays 1:00-2:00pm at Beech Haven Baptist Church in Athens

Supported by Athens Area Homeschool Band

Registration is $25 and covers the cost of the book, CD, recorder, and any sheet music.

Monthly tuition is $30 per month.

Classes start October 1, 2010 (registration due by 9/24/10 in order to purchase supplies for 10/1 class)

Summer Camp Agenda

9:00-12:00 Normal Camp Routine
Pick up the new band handbook, registration, and other forms when you drop off your student. They will be located at the ‘desk’ area.

12:00-1:00 Lunch
You may bring your lunch and picnic with other camp students but there will not be a staff member watching the children. You will be responsible for your own child(ren).
Or you can go out to eat.

1:00-1:30 Parents Information Meeting
Please bring back completed registration and other forms that you picked up in the morning.
