Band Assignment, due 2/11/11

Recorders:

write in the counts for "Aura Lee", "Pop! Goes the Weasel", and "When the Saints...". Practice all of pages 15 and 16. Be prepared to pass off "Starlight, Starbright". Have fun!!

Intermediate:

Woodwinds:

- Work on scales in thirds from white book p. 32, do at least two per day, rotating until you've practiced all then repeat. Remember to work through the different articulations on p. 32.

Brass:

- Lip slurs p.20-21 (white book)

- All middle school GMEA scale

- Pass-off on #19 (EE bk 2)

All:

- Long Tones p.14-16

- Scales Concert F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db

- #15-19 in (Essential Elements book 2)

- Sheet Music- Flying Tigers March and Sea Song Trilogy

- Solos

Advanced Band:

Lip slurs for brass

Warm-up as discussed in class. Try the chromatic warm-ups from the White book.

9/10 scales and chromatic scale full range of your instrument, use metronome working from slow to medium tempo.

p. 54 Breath control exercises, rotate through practicing 2 per day with metronome, use different articulations.

Maxwell book, #8 and "Hoe Down" No pass-off this week.

Continue to review the Maxwell book.

Solo festival piece, bring your piece to class and be prepared to play a line from it for the class.

Continue to memorize the names of the triads; ACE, BDF, CEG, DFA, EGB, FAC, GBD.

Theory assignment: Go to musictheory.net. Study the lessons on minor scales and scale degrees.
