Congratulations Are In Order!

Hello Band Students and Parents,

I hope this email finds each of you safe, warm and happy! I have two bits of great news to share...

First, Ben Williams and Nathan Wynn auditioned for the GMEA District 4 Honor Band on Dec. 3- and both guys made it! Nathan is chair percussion and Ben 1st chair. They will participate in the Honor Band at Rockdale HS in February. Ben will go on to his final All-State audition on Feb. 8 in Perry, GA. Please wish him the best with his next audition.

Next, we had four students participate in the UGA Middle School Band Festival this past weekend. Our students auditioned very well among the 1500 participants. Results were as follows:

John Mark Simmons- 5th chair in Foster bandNathan Wynn- 3rd chair in Gillespie bandAlexander Vencill- 1st chair in Trimmer bandBen Williams- 1st chair in Kopetz Honor band

We are also very proud of our students who play with the Athens Youth Symphony: Shannon McCoy(clarinet) and Jack McCoy (trumpet)!

Congratulations to these outstanding students on their achievements. Their hard work and dedication to practicing their instruments is definitely off!

Congratulations!

Hello, Band Students!

I apologize on the lateness of this message but I've been thinking about each of you since Friday's concert. Family concerns have slowed me down in getting this message to you.

Congratulations on an impressive Spring Concert! The music was wonderful and your respect for both the performers and the audience was quite evident. I'm so proud of each of you! I'm looking forward to working toward another performance for Summer Camp. I hope each of you can join us there! (More details are forthcoming.)

We (all of the directors) are so blessed to have such wonderful students to work with. Keep up the practice this summer! We want to continue to build on the skills you've worked so hard to develop this year- we don't want to do remedial work in the Fall. Therefore...keep on practicing!!!! =-)

Have a safe, blessed summer!

Karen

P.S. By the way, Chick Music is having mini-camps (2-3 days for a few hours each day) this summer. Give their store a call (706-546-8742) and inquire. I'll be teaching the "Heavy Metal Camp" in June. Tell your friends...it will be a blast! =-)

Another Praise

Hi everyone,

I wanted to "ditto" all that Karen mentioned in her note to you. I am very proud of all of you who participated in our festival. You are developing valuable skills that will serve you so well in whatever God's plans are for you.

Please keep up the good work and practice every day this week!

Mrs. Rachel
