Hello Band Students and Parents,

I hope this email finds each of you safe, warm and happy! I have two bits of great news to share...

First, Ben Williams and Nathan Wynn auditioned for the GMEA District 4 Honor Band on Dec. 3- and both guys made it! Nathan is chair percussion and Ben 1st chair. They will participate in the Honor Band at Rockdale HS in February. Ben will go on to his final All-State audition on Feb. 8 in Perry, GA. Please wish him the best with his next audition.

Next, we had four students participate in the UGA Middle School Band Festival this past weekend. Our students auditioned very well among the 1500 participants. Results were as follows:

John Mark Simmons- 5th chair in Foster bandNathan Wynn- 3rd chair in Gillespie bandAlexander Vencill- 1st chair in Trimmer bandBen Williams- 1st chair in Kopetz Honor band

We are also very proud of our students who play with the Athens Youth Symphony: Shannon McCoy(clarinet) and Jack McCoy (trumpet)!

Congratulations to these outstanding students on their achievements. Their hard work and dedication to practicing their instruments is definitely off!

Caroling at the Mall

The Athens Area Homeschool band played Christmas music at the main entrance to the Georgia Square Mall on Dec. 17th, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. till noon. We were the attendants for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle during that time. Great way to give back to our community through music.
