Band Assignment, due 1/25/11

Intermediate band, all winds and percussion:

- Warm-up on chromatic long tones (white book)

- Lip slurs for brass p. 18 #1-2 (white book)

- All middle school GMEA scales

- Chromatic scale

- Work on scales in thirds from white book p. 32, do at least two per day, rotating until you've practiced all then repeat. Remember to work through the different articulations on p. 32.

- p. 54 breath control exercises

- #1-14 in EE Bk. 2

- Sheet music

- pass off on Red, White and Blues on 1-28-11

- work on worksheet about flat key signatures (both sides)

Advanced Band, all winds and percussion:

Warm-up as discussed in class

Lip slurs for brass

All 9/10 scales

Chromatic scale full range of your instrument. Add notes a few at a time.

Work on scales in thirds from white book p. 32, do at least two per day, rotating until you've practiced all, then repeat. Remember to work through the different articulations on p. 32.

p. 54 breath control exercises, do 2 per day with metronome. Rotate through different articulations.

All sheet music

The Red, the White, and the Blues must be performance ready in one week! Combined bands will perform this at the state capitol on Feb. 2.

Maxwell book, Exercise 7, and "Kindness" (pass-off)

Review previous exercises from Maxwell for technical fluency.
